For what it's worth, Max's ears should pick up the sounds of Basil walking quickly to the bathroom, rummaging around, grabbing as much as he can carry before he comes back. Clean towels, gauze, disinfectant, painkillers...Fugo really makes sure this place stays well stocked in that regard.
Basil...sort of just dumps it all onto his rug, because what else can you do, and goes for the gauze first. Now, he's no doctor, but he's been in Ryslig long enough where he's had to doctor himself every so often, or he's seen other people do it, or he's been to the clinic to have it done to him. He's not unfamiliar, and he doesn't expect Max to do this by herself.]
