What would be ideal is if I could find good places to eventually let them grow wild, without disrupting the ecosystem too severely.

Something like that! More like...it wouldn't just have to be you that watches over it. You could have help, so then it wouldn't feel so much like a responsibility you'd be taking on by yourself.

Interesting. It would take some extra work at the start to find the right place and make sure there are people willing to tend it.

Maybe if someone wants to grow them to sell. As long as it was well-managed, I wouldn't mind that.
