[It's one of Basil's change days, but it's early enough that he isn't in too much pain yet. He's itching at this point, though it does mean he's more inclined to stay in one of his burrows outside, letting the cool earth and mud soothe his scales. He brought his laptop out there with him, so he wouldn't just be sitting in a hole doing nothing, so he sees Rindo's messages as they come in.]

Oh! I'm glad to hear from you, Rindo. I didn't know you knew anyone here, but that's the best case scenario. They'll keep you safe.

But it's okay. I've made new friends here...and I have a really nice place to live. It makes me feel lucky, too.

Oh, it...it's a big mansion at Lake Dala, a lake outside of Bavan. I'm living there with some other people, and I have my own room...I couldn't have asked for a better place to be.

theres five people living there besides me...which is kind of a lot to get used to
but my friend from home is there so im definitely sticking around as long as theyll have me

anyway im trying to learn more about monster types
is it ok if i ask what kind of monster you are?
one of my housemates apparently knows a lot about monsters but i havent asked her about all that yet and im kinda curious

Oh! I don't mind. I'm a Gargoyle. I found out what I was turning into pretty early...Gargoyles can make fire, and mine was out of control for a little while.

An expedition? Maybe so...I don't know of any other lakes nearby.

[But if so, why Lake Dala? As far as he knows there isn't a whole lot special about it...and you'd have to be a Merperson or a Kelpie to really explore it, which explains the change Rindo mentioned.]

[Truthfully, Rindo hadn't even considered the possibility of going with Neku and the others. From the topic of temporary monster changes, they'd moved on to monster instincts, then to… something he did not want to think about. Still, it can't be ignored so easily. For a brief moment, Rindo wonders if Basil's felt that… desire to hunt, and whether he's acted on it. They had not spoken for long, but Basil had come across to Rindo as someone gentle who wouldn't harm a fly. The mental image was incongruous.

…Enough thinking about that. He latches on to Basil's question like a lifeline. It's not nearly enough of a distraction, of course, but it's at least something.]

I got here in January. So...it's been three months now.

[But for Basil, it feels like an eternity.]

[Rindo's mind protests at this—January wasn't three months ago, it was half a year ago… Ugh. Like being sent to Ryslig isn't disorienting enough as it is without tossing the world's most extreme jetlag on top of it.]
