[He kind of writes like Lillie.]

I'm not hurt. [And. God there's no way to state the rest of it without sounding really ominous, so he just attaches a laptop selfie of the current state of him.] Unfortunately I was fully unconscious in there so I don't actually remember any of your visits. But I was glad to hear about them. Ingo and Emmet needed the company.

[technically this is not leading with Twin Concern.]

[That's horrifying! One more little thing that Basil is way too good at not letting on that he deals with!]

It's still a mystery to me. I've been like this since right before I passed out last month. Hoping it's not permanent.

[Blugh that's bad to think about. The general state of the trainhouse is also not great to think about. He stares at I like visiting you guys for a bit.]

You know you're free to drop by whenever you want, right? Even if I'm not awake, the twins are up at odd hours. They could use the company.

[Gonna spare Basil the rest of his circular fretting about his weird walking vegetable form. What else is there to say about it all.]

It's not a bother. We like having you over, Emmet gets bored living outside the city, and Ingo [mmmm.] can always use the reminder that he's not disliked. There's only so much of that he'll accept from the same two people over and over.

[Near-immediately feeling kind of bad about sending that, but in an obstinate way.]

The trees like you, too.

Sure they do. The Oran trees, I mean. They don't remember specific people, exactly, but they give off contented signals after you visit.

Well, you know you're welcome to tend to these ones.

[This, too, is a nymph thing. Gives him pause. Has he made a mistake, putting so much of his time into things like this? Invited his current situation somehow?

Who knows.]

Maybe. I don't want to

[mmf.]

take on responsibilities and then neglect them.

[This is topical. Also potentially kind of silly if he weren't saying it to someone he knows cares about plants.]

What would be ideal is if I could find good places to eventually let them grow wild, without disrupting the ecosystem too severely.

[...]

As in, something set up for other people to tend?

Interesting. It would take some extra work at the start to find the right place and make sure there are people willing to tend it.

Maybe if someone wants to grow them to sell. As long as it was well-managed, I wouldn't mind that.
